artist displacement program

aaaaaModular Outpost aims to offer an affordable, peer led cultural exchange program. By utilizing vacant/shared studio spaces, the Modular collective aims to eventually provide a residency network for all final year students studying at Scottish Art Institutions. Within the pilot program there are two residential opportunities to apply for, each consisting of a week long slot – Monday through Sunday, the residencies are offered between February and March 2010, this is planned to coincide with Spring term.
The spaces offered aim to be completely open to interpretation i.e. studios to develop new work, base for educational field trips, exhibition spaces etc, and it is encouraged for the visiting artist to expand upon their initial proposal to incorporate any environmental affections. Due to the nature of the studios offered it is advised to be as open as possible about desired dates when applying.
The Modular Outpost program is intended to offer the opportunity for any one who may wish to gain an experience of artistic autonomy before finishing their final year and degree show. There is no pre-desired outcome imposed by the Modular collective and each space is currently offered for a nominal fee of 50pounds per week (covering admin and electric costs, it is hoped that we will gain funding to help subsidise both this and travel costs). For the pilot program the provision of accommodation can be arranged and any need should be mentioned when applying.
